A.Phosphoramidate-
(1) Mephosfolan(C8H16O3S2PN)-
Is a
systemic insecticide and acaricide. It is effective against rice pests. Trade
name : Cytrolane ; Formulation : EC and granules (2.5 or 10%) ; LD50
for albino rats : oral 3-8.9 mg/kg; dermal (rat) 20-31mg/kg.
(2) Phenamiphos (C13H22NO3PS)-
Is a systemic nematicide used for control of root knot nematodes, cyst
forming and forming and free living nematodes. Trade name : Nemacur ;
Formulations : EC and granules ; LD50 for rat (Male) : ral 15.3
mg/kg; dermal 500mg/kg.
B.Phosphonates
( 1) Trichlorphon(C4H5Cl3O4P)-
Is a systemic , contact
stomach insecticide with some fumigant action. It is quick acting and effective
against sucking insects, Lepidopterous and dipterous pest. It is used in baits
and also for control of ectoparasites of animals. Trade name : Dipterrex,Tugon,
Neguvon and dylox ; Formulations : Dust, granules and 50% emulsifiable
concentrate LD50 for rats : oral 560-630 mg/kg; dermal more than 2000mg/kg.
C. Phosphonothioates
Leptophos (C13H10BrCl2O2PS)-
Is a
broad spectrum insecticide. It is effective against cotton boallworms. Trade
name : phosvel ; Formulation : dust (3%); WP ; 34 EC , 5-10% granules and LVC ;
LD50 for albino rats: 90.5mg/kg.
EPN(C14H14NO4PPS)-
Is
an insecticide and acaricide. Trade name : EPN ; Formulation :25 WP ; LD50
for rats : oral 9-45 mg/kg and dermal 25-230mg/kg.
D. Phosphorothiolates
(1) Oxymethyl-demetio-
It is
marketed under the trade name of Metasystox-R.
(2) Omethoate-
It is a product containing oxygen
analogus of dimethoate and market under the trade name ‘Folimat’ LD50
for rats : oral 50mg/kg; dermal 700mg/kg.
(3) Vamidothion(C8H8O4NS2P)-
It
is a systemic toxicant effective against aphids, thrips, white flies,
leafhoppers and mites . Trade name : Kilval , Vamidothion ; LD50 for
rats : oral 64-100 mg/kg; dermal rabbit 1160 mg/kg.
E. Phosphoramidophos
Dyfonate(C2H15OPS3)-
Is used
for controlling soil insects. Trade name : Dyfonate ; LD50 for rats
: oral 4-17 mg/kg; dermal 147 mg/ kg.
F. Phosphoramidate
Mephosfolan(C8H3NO2PS)-
Is a
systemic insecticide with stomach and contact action. It acts as an acaricide
also. It is effective against sucking insects, mites and lepidopterous caterpillars.
Trade name : LD50 for rats : oral 29.9 mg/kg and dermal 110 mg/kg.
Acephate(C4H10NO3PS)-
Is a systemic insecticide and effective against sucking insects, thrips and lepidopterous larvae. Trade name :
Orthene ; Formulation : 75%SP.
